Eight undergraduates were recently recognized for excellence in printing and design. The principal prize was shared by Cindy Hwang ’15 of Berkeley College for her digital body of work, which included the booklets "Politics and the English Language" and "The Simplification of the Chinese Script," and by Annie Wang ’13 of Berkeley College for her letterpress artist's book "Miss Behavior." Honorable mentions went to Austin Lan ’13 of Trumbull College for posters promoting Yale's mental health services; Greta Parnes ’14 of Davenport College for her letterpress carousel book featuring an excerpt from The Waves by Virginia Woolf; Jacqi Lee ’14 of Morse College for her digital body of work, which included the Fall 2012 issue of the Yale Literary Magazine and her book "Giorgio Morandi: Meticulously Composed"; and Andrew Sotiriou '13 of Saybrook College, Paul Doyle '13 of Berkeley College, and Isabella Huffington ’14 of Davenport College for their design of the program for Cinderella: The Light of God.
The Lohmann Prize was established in 1967 to honor the memory of Carl C. Lohmann, Yale College Class of 1910. A lifelong typophile, he was a founding member of the Honorable Company of College Printers. He served as secretary of the University from 1927 to 1953.
